SmashPot Day

They say "the world changes one funeral at a time". The same principal applies to a studio's collection of work... So swings the Hammer of Judgment...

I've been looking forward to this year's Smash Pot Day for a few months. The balance of oddballs to proper work finally tipped. It was simply too embarrassing to have anyone in the studio and seeing them looking at the clutter of 2nds. I was beginning to fear the crap was defining me rather than the work I wanted people to see. It was hard to get started, but once I got going it felt good to put a few hundred pounds of work to rest.

So swings the hammer. Let it swing!

I always feel so much better when I go ahead and accept that I have made a bunch of crap and it needs to go! then there is more room for the good to come in :)

Hitt'n the nail on the head Trace. I didn't get into this to become a professional storage space manager, but that's what it's starting to shape-up as. If that's going to be the case, I only want to handle the good crap... not seconds. Smash!

I see a lot of mosaic material in that pile; I've got some smashing to do myself.

Do I hear opportunity knocking? I do mosaics and am always looking for great pottery to recycle. If you are not planning on using those shards I would love to!

:) Tripped onto your blog via Dan Holland's. I only care to read a few blogs and I think I care enough to drop by FetishGhost's from time to time.
Love the smashed pots post; I use mine smashed bits to fill in footings for mini-constructions or before planting stuff around the yard. Not worth fotos though after seeing yours;)
