Collaboration
Digging through Unposted drafts and found this... Two early collaborations done with Jessica Fong as we were figuring out which way to take our exploration of line.
I don't know who got more out of this exercise, Jessica or me. Looking back, the DaDa brushwork is something light and whimsical.
However unassuming these canisters are, there's absolutely no way either of us would be where we are now with our studio work without either of these two works happening.
Honestly, the canisters look great mixed into a population on kitchen counter-top.

Base Jumping
Once you start down a path of self-indulgence, your life can never the same.
This particular indulgence started a few months back while filming Jessica Fong foot some of her large bowls.
The word that we throw around the studio a lot lately is "Swagger".
That would be something that's asymmetrical and/or off-center, yet in balance.
Maybe it's a potter thing, but I feel that things get more interesting as they violate symmetry.
We not pushing the envelope here, but it does provide a decent base for what's next...

Mr Blister
It wasn't expected the first time, but this time I saw coming and planned it into the surface.
I like the blistering...
They are actually stable features on the surface and add a good accent to the subtle design behind em.
White 6 Tile Slip on a buff cone 10 body with cone 6 black slip. Glazed in a thin studio Shino and fired to a flat 10.
Bit of DaDa CatFish
Dada experiment testing drawing through wax on greenware and filling it in with a Black Stain. Glazed with a studio shino.
