The Itch

Still trying to figure out how to shoot some of last years work. Some of the best pieces were too curvy and glossy to be photogenic in a way I would like, but in person... I'm very, very happy with where most of the work is headed technically.

Finding just a few glazes that work for me gives me breathing room. Now I can shift gears away from yesterday and sink time into form and develop the narratives I'm really itching to see.

GRRRRRRRRR!

Miles Beyond Now

Ok...Grab the popcorn...
We celebrate in this manner because we are very much like the jazz players...
we each riff the tunes that we carry with us...
these are the conversations that people look towards us to have...
we can enjoy our book of standards...
we blaze new trails...
We can do both.

Authentically Grayson Perry

I got hooked on Grayson Perry just recently thanks to Ben Carter's Red Clay Rambler podcast. Ben mentioned Grayson's Reith Lectures series and after spending a few days of listening to them I found myself rethinking our roles both as artists and communicators of ideas.

We choose our roles that live.
We can let others tell us what they are OR we can define these roles ourselves.

If you do just one thing to push yourself forward this week, download the Grayson's Reith Lectures and give them a listen while you are working in the studio. Go ahead and put it on repeat. Let it soak in. You don't have to agree with it all, but it can make a difference.

Well done Grayson
