Dog Paddleing

Spent the weekend playing with the small gas cone 10 kiln up at the UOP ceramics lab testing out a few ideas...

A nice dry Shino

A refire of one of this springs canisters that was originally fired using just a RedArt Flashing Wash. This time through, it was refired after being re-dipped in UOP's studio shino.
(Loooovvveee this one. The cobalt blue vibrates when you look at it in natural light, Nice...)

I'm making an effort to be "normal" with at least some of my work. These are directed toward my local markets. I just can't see this going anywhere though.

Refire with a thin shino...

A thin application of Red Chun over a stenciled Black Slip... the piece is more than I expected, but it's proving hard to shoot.
If you can't shoot it, you can't really show it, but gotta give it a try.

A detail of a stenciled cobalt design with sponge wiped RedArt Flashing wash under a UOP shino.

Wonderful tall cylinder and nothing wrong with your normal, but if it doesn't call you what can you do. You are having some good results with these refires and additions of other glazes, I like the variations.

are you trying to break my heart here?
The warmth of the orange just adds depth to what is already a great pot and the black----oh-la-la wonderful...tasty and yummy!

Z, these are sooooo beautiful!!!!! You normal? haha! The colors are spot on for fall aren't they!

But then again, what is NORMAL, really?

Normalcy is probably over rated. So wow. Great refires!

I have a lot of trouble shooting black too. Sometimes I can edit the photos and they are ok, but never really good.

Came on here to say "Don't try to be normal" but fortunately it's been said :] I LOVE your work and its distinctiveness.

Thanks... it's getting easier to let go of my preconceived expectations when the kiln opens and just enjoy the results for what they are.

These pieces are gorgeous. I love the first jar, the yunomi, teabowls, esp. I think I'm getting the beautiful serendipity of every firing, too. yah.
