Today's results of playing with the readability of a 6Tile Slip under our studio shino on a flower vase.

Going for muted...
Think we got it. It's a surface that is fun to explore, but still shouldn't distract from the bouquet.
The premise is to use this for a base for straffigo line drawings.

Two free tickets that I had for the KVIE Art Auction Gala didn't go to naught..

My goodwill ambassadors frolicked for me!

September's Collaborations

Thrown, etched, and fired by Fong, I just stenciled the buggers...

Just taken out of the kiln...

A fantastic way to get out of your own skin and let go of personal preconceptions about "how work is supposed to be".
Relinquish all of the control.
The trick is finding people to play with...

Enter stage right...

Jade Danielson

Our 15 year old Jr studio partner.
The form was provided but the surface is all hers!

Amazing !!!

Tag-team collaboration...
Push it along and leave it on the shelf.
Come back later and see what's been done to it...
Gotta love surprizes...

Man Love

I can't believe this face, not all that long ago, looked back up at me while I was cradling him in my arms.
Thirteen going on fourteen and just starting to live large.

I still smile each and everytime I see him :)

KVIE Art Auction 2012

Always happy to help raise funds for KVIE public television
It has helped me raise 2 wonderful children and I hope that it will still be there when it's time for my grandchildren to learn about the world beyond their hometown.
I'm not loaded with disposable cash, but I do feel fortunate that I can help in my own way.
This big jar goes up for Auction Friday night, September the 28th!

8 fluid Ounces 2012

Came home to a package sitting on my pillow today...

(I love surprises!)
I knew what it was as soon as I saw the return address...
LSU, Louisiana State University
It's the CD of the exhibition catalog from the 8 Fluid Ounces show earlier this spring.
Nice touche by the Curator and Co-Curator Malia Krolak and Mikey Walsh.
This was the second time I've gotten to participate in this exhibition and I've been nothing but impressed by the experience.
Great communication (Malia is a gracious host), the web catalog was exceptional, the opening looked great (wished I could head out for that one, but really, that's a stretch for me) my work sold (always a big plus ;) and the CD I found on my pillow was icing on the cake!
Very, very well done Malia...
You are defiantly helping set the bar.
I highly recommend this show to anyone looking for an event to participate in.

I have 3 extra CD's. Anyone that's interested in one can write me at
Write and I'll send one out to you free of charge. This offer only applies to the first three of course. Everyone else gets Licks, Love, and Luck...

See What Sticks

Well it's time again to throw work back out there and see what sticks.
The deadline for entry for this years Archie Bray's Beyond the Brickyard Exhibition is the Saturday the15th and I'm proving true to my nature and leaning against the deadline just for the thrill.
(It's a bad habit I don't recommend to anyone.)

These are what's heading towards the jury, and while I'm happy with what I can submit, I'm always hesitant... I've been told the works are best experienced in person rather than glimpsed in photos.
There is so much narrative lost in a snapshot. A picture can help entice you to wonder, but you need to handle the work to explore it's nature.
Grumble grumble grumble...

Play'n At Home

Spent a 3 day weekend in the studio with one studiomate, getting to play and trying out a few new ideas while our other partner was out whooping it up out on the plya at Burning Man :P

Felt a bit like I was twiddling my thumbs until I heard she made it back safe and sound.

In the mean time...
These forms are Jessica's, she's just humoring me by letting me have a go with one of her green vases... Thanks Jess!

Too much fun!
This style of vase looks great wood fired and topped with a bunch of fresh cut flowers.

One of a handful of work she came back from Arrowmont with.
