I don't know about all of you, but it still makes my head spin when I accidentally find out that my common studio glazes interact in a really unexpected ways... I've been living with these glazes for 2 years now, and I test for these things after all. But this glaze combo slipped through... until now.
I haven't made this combo jump through any hoops yet, but it seems to be acting like a cone 6 OilSpot glaze. Small Amber bubbles are floating through the WhiteLiner and healing over.
Happy Dance!
That is really impressive and well named

ReplyDeleteAwewome combination. Those kind of surprise are so fun.
ReplyDeleteOh WOW. That is so so nice. I want that last cup badly. I can't wait to see you throwing "Bone Marrow" into the mix.
ReplyDelete"Bone Marrow" on the inside of a pirate jar...just thinking out loud. so many options its going to be fun for you.
This turned out wonderful. I get a similar effect with a white over tenmoku at cone 10. I like to trail the white over the tenmoku for an interesting contrast. Sorry I don't have a pic:(
ReplyDeleteHot and Yummy!
ReplyDeleteAwesome! gotta love those happy accidents!
ReplyDeletewhat a sexy combo!
ReplyDeletehehe indeed and i can see why! love the detail shots..
ReplyDeleteSuweeeeet!!
ReplyDeletehappy dance indeed... absolutely beautiful glaze combo and appropriate name too.
ReplyDeleteOooh! That would be the perfect combo for making things look like mushrooms..... *getting crazy ideas now* Awesome!
ReplyDeletethis is amazing! is it fired reduction or oxidation. i'm new to ceramics and can never really tell.
ReplyDeleteTechnically it would be a considered neutral atmosphere. No reduction and no real oxidation either (I don't use a kiln vent and the peep holes are plugged so there really isn't any fresh air entering the kiln.)
ReplyDeleteI am 2 years late to the party but wondered if you used black slip under the glazes... it appears that way... doing some glaze testing and those 2 are first on my list by mine firing a cone 6 elec ox with slow cool...

ReplyDeleteLove your glazes! Are you using a reduction or oxidation kiln? I would love to be able to get an Amber to work like yours in an oxidation kiln.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to try this!
ReplyDeleteThank You! Thank You! Thank You!
Hi there, I really want to make this glaze combination. For the white liner I don't have G200 and may not be able to get any because the mine shut down. Have you tried this glaze with a G200 substitute?
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info!
Hey Heather. to be honest, I haven't tried this recipe with a substitute. I'd be curios to see what the results were though.
ReplyDeleteCan I get the recipient for the Cone 6 BoneMarrow Glaze?
ReplyDeleteHey there! I made a batch of both the amber and the liner glaze, but when mixed all I get is a light brown glaze. Any idea what's going wrong? It's a Cone 6 fire.
